Stainless (304, 316, 17-4 PH) wants high-pressure flood coolant with a sulfur or chlorine-bearing extreme-pressure additive to prevent chip welding. Run 0.004–0.006 inch per tooth and never let the cutter dwell — stationary contact for even a fraction of a second work-hardens the surface to a glaze that the next pass will rub against and ruin the cutter.
